Adventure Is Priceless

We’re thinking about summer 2025 road trips now. One trip we’re planning is driving and exploring the Southeastern and Central portions of the Ohio River Scenic Byway. The Ohio River scenic byway spans 14 counties along the Ohio River which serves as a border between Ohio and West Virginia. The byway winds through four regions; the East, Southeast, Central and West Regions. The route includes miles of scenic beauty and plenty of small, friendly towns and many local owned restaurants that serve down home good food. The route offers an almost continuous view of the river. We plan to drive and explore the Southeast and Central regions, the four counties in the southeastern region and three counties in the central region. That’s an 81 mile portion of the byway beginning in Bridgeport and ending in Marietta. We’ve been in the area before but have never actually driven the byway. We don’t plan detailed routes and stops. We have a general route in mind but there will be spontaneous stops and small detours as we find interesting places to visit.
We would normally be driving Route 70 From Columbus to Bridgeport but that's a pretty boring drive so we've planned a route that will get us off the highway and on a more scenic route to Bridgeport. -
Photo shows something you might see while traveling in the byway area.

  1. This looks like a Roman aqueduct. I didn’t know there was anything like this in Ohio. Where is it located ?

      Hi Craig
It’s a stone viaduct - built in 1925 in downtown Bellaire located in Belmont County. Plans are in the works to create a park and elevated walkway that crosses over Guernsey Street.
