Mt. Gilead Court House - Lofty dreams of cultural expression mingled with the cruel realities of crime and punishment. Town clocks used to strike the hour, most are silent now. Actually, I have never heard one. There are many to be seen throughout the state. A few still give the correct time but most are just a reminder of quieter times.
